Meet Recap

The final KLAA West Division Girls Swim & Dive Championship was an exciting one! GB had a great weekend of competition with their KLAA rivals, Brighton. The scores between the two teams stayed close throughout the meet. The lead changed three times during the 12 events, and the teams were even tied with 3 events to go. The Lady Bobcats did everything they could and pushed themselves to their limits while the Bulldogs fought back just as hard.

“This rivalry has been an amazing thing to watch over the years as the two teams have repeatedly pushed each other to perform at their best while modeling a remarkable level of sportsmanship.” Coach Emily Overmyer

During the tough battle, the Bobcats were able to secure 3 new meet records and 2 more State Championship qualifications. Now the team has great momentum headed into the KLAA Lakes Conference Championship.

Game Recap

Last Thursday we faced the #2 ranked Canton Chiefs for the KLAA Association Championship and came away with a 1-0 win in a shootout. Both halves were full of transition soccer and both goalkeepers played extremely well keeping their teams in the match. After a scoreless 100 minutes, the game came down to a shootout. Canton converted their 1st PK while the Canton keeper made a save for a 1-0 advantage. Bennett Stokes would come up big, making 3 straight saves on successive PK’s, while Brandon Dellaposta, Josh Monosmith and Max Whitmore converted for the 3-1 win. This group of young men have really battled all year after a slow start and I couldn’t be more proud and happy for them. The win makes our record (9-1-2) KLAA and (10-5-5) overall. Next Tuesday we host Davison in the 1st round of District play.
