Grand Blanc Bobcats captured the crown at the MHSAA Division-1 Regional competition at Davison Country Club, Friday May 31. GB Golfers shot their best score of the season, at an extremely challenging course, under difficult course conditions. “Davison always plays tough!” spoke senior Grant Foren. “Davison is long, demanding precise shots, with heavy rough!” There were 18 teams present in this Region 2 tournament, and ten of the teams were bunched up between 326 and 351. Grand Blanc shot a terrific 317, winning by 9 strokes. Junior, Ranveer Ajimal led the Bobcats, and the field of 87 contestants with a co-medalist score of one over par 73, sharing honors with Grand Ledge golfer, Carter Housler. Senior, Brendan Silpoch placed third overall with a fabulous 74. Rounding out the Bobcat scoring was Senior Grant Foren’s 84, with Ashton Gaulin and Ryan Truchan both submitting scores of 86. Coach Joe Gainey was elated with his team’s success. The boys played smart, using patience, perseverance, and confidence to play one shot at a time. That’s difficult to do under hi-pressure situations. Seniors Grant Foren and Brendan Silpoch graduated from GB the evening before and turned in stellar performance, displaying tremendous dedication and team leadership. The boys played with skill and focus and I could not be more proud of these boys and their improvement throughout the season. We are looking forward to contending at the MHSAA State Championship at The Fortress in Frankenmuth on June 7 & 8.
