Senior night success! Grand Blanc Varsity Softball hosted Detroit Country Day and celebrated both teams seniors.
Kendall Klochack throws another no-hitter helping us secure a 4-1 over Detroit Country Day with Olivia Bainbridge behind the plate. She went seven innings, allowing zero hits, one run, while striking out ten, and walking zero. Annabelle Morningstar broke up the no hitter for DCD in the fifth. Mady Roover, Rebecca Oetting, Olivia Bainbridge, and a triple by LaNya Bates cleared the bases. Oetting went 2 for 3 at the plate leading our hits. Ally Whitt and Brie Broderick both had big catches in the outfield for GB.
Megan Martin pitched our second victory 9-2 with Jaz Carroll behind the plate. Abby Whitt threw three innings as relief for her senior game. Megan went four innings allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out one, and walking one. Abby struck out 3 and allowed 2 runs. Our offense fired up in the second inning when LaNya Bates had a standup triple clearing the bases once again. We collected eight hits with Bates going 3 for 4 at the plate and Martin with 2 RBIs on 2 hits. McKenzie Simpson had a big senior game at third with 6 putouts leading us defensively and Annabelle Morningstar with 2. Outfield each shared in the fun with one putout each from Bates, Brie Broderick, and Ally Whitt. We changed things up in the last three innings bringing Ally in to catch, Abby to pitch, Simpson at 3rd, Gracie Murray at 2nd, and Mady Roover at 1st. All of our seniors playing infield at once, it was a sight of pure love of the game.
Our record is now 11-4.
Thursday we take on rivals Davison at home.
