The Grand Blanc Girls and Boys Track & Field teams both had solid performances at the Jackson ( Charlie Janke Track and Field Invitational) this past Friday. The teams competed at Jackson High’s Withington Stadium in a nine team field. There were several stand out performances by Grand Blanc Athletes. Comari Hawkins set a new school record in the 200 meter dash with a winning time of 24.93. Camille Minner placed 6th in the 200m dash at 27.17 The Grand Blanc girls 800 meter relay team of (Alexis Williams, Camille Minner, Sasha Greene, Comari Hawkins) raced to a first place finish and a new school record of 1:42.76. The 1600 meter Relay team of ( Minner,Greene, Rose, Hawkins) won with a time of 4:00.15. Caitlin Rose won the 800 meters in 2:16.85 and the 1600 meters in 5:00.47. Lauryn Hoover placed 5th in the 800 running 2:32.13 The Girls 400 meter crew took three of the top six places finishing 1st, 3rd, and 5th. ( Comari Hawkins-57.71, Camille Minner-1:02.24, Sasha Greene-1:03.49). Kennedy Kuhlman got the last scoring place in the 3200 meter race placing 6th at 12:39.48. Hannah Robinson ran 18.49 to place 5th in the 100m hurdles and 5th in the 300m Hurdles running 53.55. The 3200 m Relay Team (Hoover, Kuhlman, Kelley, Lange) ran 10:35.79 to finish 3rd. The 400m Relay team ( Kelley, Smiley, White-Sears, Neal) finished 4th at 52.63. NaSkyyah White-Sears finished 2nd in the 100m dash at 12.65. In The long Jump, Sasha Greene took 2nd jumping 16-07.00 followed by Maria Smiley in 6th place at 16-00.00. The Grand Blanc girls scored 103 points finishing in third place behind East Kentwood-135, and Saline-117. Zealand East was 4th-74, Jackson 5th-38, Ypsilanti Lincoln 6th-37, East Lansing 7th-11, Portage Northern 8th-7, Wixom St. Catherine 9th-4.
The Boys team earned the runner-up trophy with 88 points finishing behind defending State Champions East Kentwood HS. with 144 points. Saline was 3rd with 77.25 points, East Lansing 4th-59, Zeeland East 5th-45.25, Detroit Catholic Central 6th-41.25, Portage Northern 7th-29, Ypsilanti Lincoln 8th-24, Jackson 9th- 18.25.
Quin Broussard won the 200m dash at 22.49 and was 3rd in the 100m dash running 11.39 The boys finished 1,2, and 4 in the 400m dash ( JeRonn Body-49.59, Jo Coleman -51.22, Forrest Emmerling -51.76) Body’s time was the fastest time in the State so far this season. Jackson Turnbow placed 5th in the 1600 m run at 4:39.14 and Graham Jones took 3rd in the 110 hurdles at 15.99. The Boys team of ( Jo Coleman, Quin Broussard, Forrest Emmerling, and JeRonn Body), ran a fast early season time winning the 1600m Relay with a time of 3:26.66.. The 800m Relay team of (Malik-Bashir-Cager, Jo Coleman, JeRonn Body, Quin Broussard), finished 2nd with a time of 1:30.42. Brian Jones finished 3rd in the Shot Put at 50-08.00 and 3rd in the Discus at 135-01 . Tylor Leedom placed 6th in the Long Jump at 20-00.00 and 5th in the High Jump 5-08.00 Ethan Vargo won the High Jump for the boy Bobcats jumping 6-04.00
Both Teams will go up against Carman Ainsworth and Lapeer this Tuesday at Lapeer High School.
