Girls Junior Varsity Softball · JV Softball – Saturday, April 13

GREAT DAY FOR SOFTBALL!

GRAND BLANC JV gets to play three games today.  The girls are ready to go and excited to get their first tournament play of the season.

The 1st game started after a little delay and we faced a powerhouse pitcher from Lincoln.   In fact this game was a pitchers duel.  Erica Karl took the mound for Grand Blanc and pitched solid 6 innings, striking out 6 and only giving up 4 singles and 1 earned run.   Our opposing pitcher was up to the challenge and only gave up one hit and 3 walks and 3 runs.  Only problem we had a few miscues in the field and gave up 6 unearned runs, resulting in a final score – Lincoln 7 Grand Blanc 3.

The loss didn’t faze the Bobcats and they were fired up ready to play game #2 against Clinton High School.   Hope Phillips got the start and showed her skills for a couple of innings striking out 3 and giving up 2 hits and 1 run.  Taylor Kolasinski came in to work a scoreless third inning strucking out 2 out of the 4 batters she faced.   The bats were ready this game and the Bobcats got 13 hits in 3 innings, 2 doubles by Phillips, and 2 hits each by Lexi Marshall, Sam Lange, Kolasinski,  and Alaina Schultz ( one being a deep triple ).   8 different players scored in each of the first 2 innings.  Final score GB 20 Clinton 1.

In our final game of the day Grand Blanc faced Walled Lake Northern.   We gave the start to Taylor Kolasinski and she started where she left off from the game before, giving up 2 hits and striking out 4 in 3 scoreless innings.  Raelyn DiLorenzo came in in relief and pitched 2 innings striking out 2 and giving up no hits.   The hitting continued in the 3rd game with the 11 hits in 5 innings.   Again Phillips and Marshall providing 2 each, and 7 others with one each.   Marshall scored 3 times as did Alaina Schultz and with RBI’s by six different players GB won by the score of 10-0.

Overall a great day of softball, good play, good team work and some teaching moments.

Our next games will be home versus Carmen-Ainsworth on Thursday April 18th.  First game starts at 4:00pm
