Boys Varsity Hockey · Grand Blanc Varsity Hockey versus SCF Pride

The Grand Blanc Bobcats Varsity Hockey team dropped a tough fought game to the SCF Pride Saturday afternoon at the Flint Iceland Arena 8-4.

The Bobcats were a bit timid in the first period and were dominated in offensive zone puck possession time but managed to escape the first period down 2-1 after Hayden Seguin scored on the Power play at the 3:41 mark of the first to send the teams to the locker room for the intermission.

The second period did not get much better for the Bobcats as they were outscored 5-2 in the middle frame as SCF continued their relentless pressure and checking game. The Bobcats goals came from Brody Rosol on assists from Segiun and Hunter Banstahl and Owen Walker from a feed from Seguin. But the period would end with the Bobcats trailing 7-3.

In the third…the Bobcats finally woke up and found their game pressing and forechecking with tremendous pressure. Ryan Haden scored for the Bobcats on a feed from Seguin who was clearly the Bobcats MVP of the game with 1G, 3A and 20 hits for his best game of the season. “This kid did everything for us tonight. If we would have had 20 Seguins today, we could have Defeated anyone”.

SCF was able to answer the Bobcats goal to make the final score 8-4 SCF.

“We need to continue to work harder in practice. Our defensive zone coverage and goaltending has been letting us down a bit lately and that is on me to get us better prepared. The young guys are working hard to improve so it is time to step up the intensity in practice and start to push them more.”

Nick Hensley was in net for the Bobcats.

The Bobcats next face Midland away on Wednesday in their attempt to get back into the win column.
