Grand Blanc Boys Varsity Golf Team is advancing to Michigan’s Boys State Golf Finals for a third year in a row. Prevailing through a strong list of 20 teams, the Bobcats placed Third in their Region, with a score of 331, just 4 strokes behind first place Lapeer, with a score of 327. Traverse City West earned second place with 328. It was a rather exciting finish to Thursday’s Region 2 round of golf. Scores posted were very close going right down to the wire. Grand Blanc tied with Midland Dow, but nudged ahead with the Bobcat’s fifth score, breaking the tie. At that point, the Seniors were all smiles as they headed back to GB for Graduation Ceremonies. Perhaps no bigger smile came from Nick Bruett, who posted the third best round of the day with a 77. Nick may have needed to join a playoff to pursue going to the Finals as an individual, but the Bobcat Team earned qualifying spot and came through for him. This will be Nick’s third State Finals, giving him confidence and poise leading his teammates to The Meadows at Grand Valley on Friday June 8 and Saturday June 9. Congratulations on great team play, and good luck at the Finals.
