Varsity Soccer captured the District title Saturday at Lapeer by beating Swartz Creek 3-1. Mohammad Ali (MK) opened the scoring in the first half after creating a Swartz Creek turnover and converting to the goalkeepers right side from just outrside of the 18 yard box. Senior captain Chase Clark followed up with a strong volley form the top of the box that found its way to the back of the net and gave the Bobcats a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Swartz Creek’s only goal of the match came part way into the second half when the Bobcats were whistled for a foul in their own goal box creating a Swartz Creek penalty kick. The dragons converted and cut the lead down to 2-1. With about ten minutes remaining midfielder Jacob Tali beat his defender down the wing to find Muaz Asperger in the goal box where he beat two defenders before sliding a shot past the Swartz Creek goalkeeper putting the Bobcats ahead 3-1 and sealing the victory.
