Warwick Hills Country Club & Top50 Junior Golf Tour combined with Grand Blanc Varsity Golf Team to sponsor an outstanding opportunity for Michigan high school golfers across the state. An impressive field of top Varsity Golf Teams in Michigan joined together on Monday May 22nd at Warwick Hills to compete with one another. Twenty-three highly ranked teams teed up at the same course, just like so many of the PGA’s top pros did during the Buick Open days, the only regular event on PGA tour. The sun peeked through the clouds just as the boys began their round. High winds challenged individual skills making the venue even tougher. However, the caliber of HS golfers showed true with some outstanding scores.
Patrick Sullivan, from Grosse Pointe South shot an outstanding 4 under par, 68, leading all 115 golfers as medalist and the only under par round of the day. Locally, our own Grand Blanc golfer, Trevor Bailey earned Top 5 Honors shooting two over par, 72. Ty Vanitvelt from Powers Catholic shot 75.
Sullivan led his team to a total score of 300, claiming first place in the event. Detroit Catholic Central placed second with a score of 307. Clarkston third at 315. Powers Catholic, sixth at 318, Grand Blanc held ninth place at 328, and Goodrich tallied 351.
