Westland John Glenn Girls defeated Grand Blanc Girls 17-13
Grand Blanc girls split the baker series with John Glenn but were behind in totals by 40 pins. GB was able to close the point gap after a narrow first game win. But JG came out strong in the second game and clinched the victory with a convincing 79 pin win. Grand Blanc was led by Ashley Tomczak 175-203, Kaycee Lewis 152 and Clarissa Baldwin 152.
Westland John Glenn Boys defeated Grand Blanc Boys 25-5
Though the GB Boys were able to split the baker games, the young and talented John Glenn team bowled two excellent games winning both 982-809 and 1023-827, and easily defeated GB. The GB Boys just could not get any strings of strikes going except for a couple moments. Andrew Peterson came in mid-game game-1 closing with 4 strikes in game 1 and bowling a solid 198 in game 2. Jaylin Barnett chipped in with a 184 and Matt Miller had back to back 175 games.
Sunday Jan 8th
Waterford Mott Girls defeated Grand Blanc Girls 16-14
This was tough loss for the GB Girls. After getting out to a 10-0 lead by winning both baker games (179-168 & 190-158). Mott girls came out with a strong first game winning 846-782 and close the point gap to 12-7. It was a very exciting 2nd regular game! Mott got off to 30-40 pin lead to start the game. GB girls closed the gap to 5-15 pins throughout the next 6 frames before Mott edged ahead by around 30 pins going into the tenth frame. Mott girls started to press, and missed a couple spares, GB girls responded well throwing a couple of doubles before falling short by just 3 pins, losing 836-833. It was a exciting match for both sides and entertained the large crowd with some clutch bowling. GB girls were led by Clarissa Baldwin 200-180, Lizzy Peterson 166-173 Ashley Tomczak 172-164 and Haley Cochran 169.
Grand Blanc Boys defeated Waterford Mott Boys 23-7
GB Boys threw their high baker game of the year rolling an impressive 251 to Mott’s 153. Coach Martin alternated a few different bowlers in baker game 2 and the boys struggled losing 174-132. Back to their original line-up the GB Boys defeated Mott 944-926 and closed with a 927-891 2nd game win. Though both games were relatively close ,GB boys maintained their lead throughout the morning, frustrating their opponent. Coach Martin’s team has several young bowlers and it is quite a balancing act getting players experienced. But several stepped up along with some of last years returners to provide GB with a solid victory. GB Boys were led by Caeden Hunter 227-234, Jaylin Barnett 195-200, first year bowlers Drew Zavatsky 186 and Andrew Peterson 185.
