Saturday  5/20 –

We had a tournament in Linden.  Three games scheduled.   Our first game JV went up against Brandon.   Abby Whitt took the mound and recorded the win, giving up only 7 hits in 6 innings, while striking out 8.  The offense was led by Gracie Murray with 3 hits, 2 of them triples, and Makinna Hicks, Allison Sheroski, McKenzie Simpson and Whitt with 3 hits each.   Players with two hits included:  Olivia Bainbridge, Jordan Fryfogle.   Final score 12-8.

Second game versus Lake Fenton.  This game the bats came out again with Murray leading the way going 5 for 5 and scoring 4 runs.   Whitt again had 3 hits and 2 more by Hicks.   The 7th inning was led off by Sydney Austin with a single followed by a walk and 5 singles by her teammates to score 5 runs to win the game 11-7.   Murray pitched seven innings giving up only 6 hits, walked 8 and struck out 8.

The third game was to be the championship game, but was called due to rain.   The two wins brings the teams record to 16-6.

Tuesday  5/23 – Double Header in Oxford –

We went up against a good challange in Oxford.   The first game was a pitchers duel, but our hitters got things rolling in the 4th inning scoring 4 runs.   Olivia Bainbridge had a triple and a home run and Jordan Fryfogle had 2 hits in the game.   The Bobcats won the game 7-3 with Abby Whitt spreading out 9 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7.

In the second game the rain and the mental jitters got to the Bobcats.  We lost 16-8 on some miscues in the field.   Our bats did well with 15 hits in 4 innings and we learned a lot as a team mentally and as to our approach to certain situations.  This is what makes coaches the most proud.   The split with Oxford brings our record to 17-7.  GO BOBCATS.

Wednesday  5/24  –

We traveled to Fenton and faced the best pitcher we have faced all season.  Abby Whitt pitched a game that would have won most contests, giving up 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5.  Fenton scored 3 runs, 1 in the first inning and 2 in the second, all unearned and then Whitt shut them down the rest of the way.  As for the Fenton pitcher she allowed a triple to Jordan Fryfogle and a double by McKenzie Simpson to drive her in for the Bobcats only run.  Only one more hit was obtained by Grand Blanc by Joslyn Watson.   Final score Fenton 3 Grand Blanc 1.

After a 15 minute break the Bobcats regrouped and came out swinging.   Murray had 3 hits and 2 walks, Simpson 3 hits and a walk and Sydney Austin having 2 hits and a walk.   Every other player had one hit.   Gracie Murray had a shaky 3rd inning giving up 5 runs but had 4 solid innings surrounding it to get the win.   Final score  Bobcats 13  Tigers 6.

Season Record 18-8.
